About

Amy Vowles is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Brisbane who explores human interconnectivity to nature in relation to the human condition. Drawing from personal experiences with mental health and the severe impacts of climate change on her community in Cairns, Vowles intertwines human emotion with surrealist abstract landscapes as a form of poetic storytelling across painting, sculpture, projection, immersive installation and performance. Devoted to self-healing, Vowles utilises intuitive creative processes such as automatism as a form of self-catharsis and inquiry.

Vowles is a BFA graduate and recipient of the NAVA Ignition Prize in 2022. Her work has been featured nationally including Pitch Music & Arts Festival, BAD Festival, Queensland College of Art Gallery and Land Street Gallery.
